Gibson Village Community Meeting (Jan 2024)

0

JANUARY 2024 Meeting: Topic TBA Please check back here closer to the date—

ClearWater Arts Center & Studios Provides the venue for the Gibson Village Community Association, a Recognized Neighborhood Association of City of Concord NC, for its Community Meetings. These meetings have been rescheduled in mid-2023 to the 4th Tuesday evening, every other month. Residents of the Gibson Village Neighborhood, in Concord NC are welcome to attend and learn about their community and meet each other.

Often, a selected 'authority' will be invited to share something of particular interest with the community. Members of Police are there to report on the latest crime statistics and receive community members' recommendations and questions. ClearWater Coordinator Sarah Gay is usually there to give updates on the Arts Center.

Community Association President, Tara Bengle has recently been also making Community Meetings available on Zoom, for residents who cannot make it in person. The link is available on request.

WHERE TO GO: Meetings are held in the LOWER LEVEL Greenway Gallery; Go to the GLASS DOUBLE-DOORS facing Kerr Street near the driveway entrance from Kerr Street, at the end of our largest, long (‘Operations’) building.

The Main Entrance, at 223 Crowell Dr NW, is NOT open for these meetings.

Why is this neighborhood called Gibson Village? Because the houses were built for the workers at the Gibson Mill (@gibsonmillnc) near by.
(Gibson Mill now houses two breweries, a board game center, axe-throwing outlet, and come pretty sweet places to grab a bite! Oh yes and the giant antiques mall, The Depot...)

ClearWater Arts does not determine the Agenda nor content of these meetings. For more information please use the Gibson Village Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gibsonvillage

Gibson Village loves our senior citizens! That is why partnered with the City of Concord Government to invite Legal Aid to share details about their Senior Project at our community meeting on November 28th. They will provide valuable information on the type of free legal services that they offer to our senior citizens. Please help to get the word out and bring a senior to our next meeting from 7-8pm at ClearWater Arts Center & Studios located at 223 Crowell Dr. NW.

Annual Fall Judged Art Show, 2023

The Cabarrus Art Guild celebrated local artists at our

Annual Fall Judged Art Show, 2023 Reception

A fabulous afternoon was had by our record-breaking crowd of pattendees, taking in all the art created by our local artists. Entries were from Members and non-Members alike from Cabarrus and surrounding counties. What a terrific celebration!

The Cabarrus Art Guild is privileged to continue to extend awards in two categories, 2D and 3D. These awards are partially supported by a grant from the Grassroots Art Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency, and the Cabarrus Arts Council.

The show is now on view at ClearWater Arts Center and Studios in their Main Gallery Thursday November 30, 2023 (223 Crowell Dr NW, Concord, NC; enter via the Crowell Dr. main doors).

Stop in to see these amazing pieces during their drop-in hours, Wednesday-Friday, 12 noon to 5:00 pm, Saturday’s 10am-2pm, or you can schedule an appointment to visit at another time by calling 704.920.6600.

Free admission and open to the public.

Many thanks to Nancy Brown, Exhibition Chair, and to the volunteers who made this terrific show happen. The Guild wholly depends on our volunteers and their generosity and we sincerely appreciate their time and hard work.

We sincerely thank Julia Lawing, our Judge for this event. Julia’s artwork can be viewed at https://julialawing.com.

Thank you for supporting the Guild and our mission to support local art.
