Guest Artist Show: Dr. Wanda Jenkins, "Adventures in Color"

“Adventures in Color” Graces ClearWater’s Main Gallery for 2 months!

Having painted occasionally during her professional years as an OB/Gyn., in retirement she has actively explored color and texture in landscapes, florals, and abstracts, predominantly using oil paints. She has studied with various expert artists through the years, and is inspired partly by her Grandmother’s career in painting.

The show will also feature her Dichroic glass freehand jewelry sets.

All works are for sale unless otherwise noted.

‘Adventures in Color,’ will be on view in ClearWater’s Main Gallery, Nov. 2, 2019- Jan. 5, 2020.

Address: 223 Crowell Drive NW, Concord, NC 28025.

The public is invited to an Opening Reception, with Dr. Jenkins’ Artist Talk, on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

Free parking is available in ClearWater’s three parking lots.  See the campus site plan on our website, www.clearwaterartists.com, on the ‘Our Space’ page (click the large black button, upper right of page, that says, ‘View Campus Area Plan’)

A note from the artist:

Dr. Jenkins believes strongly in the emphasis on art that ClearWater represents; and is excited that the 20% commission on any painting sold in the ClearWater Gallery during the Adventures in Color show, will go toward realizing the vision that ClearWater signifies for this community.

Cynthia Howard, Artist

Cynthia Howard, Artist

Cynthia painting.JPG

The Cabarrus Art Guild is delighted to welcome artist Cynthia Howard to our monthly demonstration meeting held at ClearWater Artist Studios. Cynthia has been described as a Romantic Impressionist and an Expressionist artist. She will be painting a landscape to demonstrate her work, using water soluble oils.

Ms. Howard’s travels in the U.S. and Europe provide material and inspiration for her work. Here in North Carolina, she uses the mountains, the streams, and the coastal areas to create a mood or a feeling with color, value, and contrast for her paintings.

In her current series she has included paintings of wineries, vineyards and cottages. To see some of Ms. Howards paintings, her website is cynthiahowardartistinstructor.com.

This demonstration is presented by the Cabarrus Art Guild. It is FREE and open to the public.

ClearWater Artist Studios, in partnership with the North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association, will open this exhibit of a series of art photographs, commissioned to draw attention to approaches for best practices in preventing sudden death and catastrophic injury in athletics in North Carolina. The idea is to utilize art for a series of educational posters to achieve this goal.

The exhibit will be on view from Feb. 25 through March 29, 2019. It is open to the public, and will celebrate March as National Athletic Training Month. The art will be in the Community Room/ Second Gallery at ClearWater Artist Studios.

Sports, team-based or individual, provide confidence, social skills, self esteem and physical activity; but during a 17 year period (July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2017) there have been 489 catastrophic sport-related deaths documented among high school and college athletes in the United States, captured by the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research. There have been 20 events captured among athletes in North Carolina during the same time period.

Spectacular Raptor Portraits, vibrant children’s book illustrations, large and affecting abstract expressionist pieces, and softly-hued, lovely landscapes are just some of the works on display- not to mention a range of turned-wood and glass pieces.

ClearWater Artist Studios houses the working studios of 12 artists as well as the Southern Piedmont Woodturners’  Association (a Club).  All artists leasing individual studios are juried-in using a range of criteria (currently, the waiting list stands at 14).

Opening Reception is Friday, March 22, 2019 starting at 6:00. Reception will close at 9:00pm.

The tenant artists of ClearWater Artist Studios will gather to welcome the public and discuss their latest work and experiences as working artists, this Friday, March 22, 2019. Some works in the show, ‘Tenant Artists Show V,’ mark key recent developments in the evolution of certain artists’ style, choices and career path; while others exhibit the mastery of techniques and subject matter honed over years.

The Artists will form a Panel Discussion in the middle of the Gallery starting at 7:00 p.m. during the Opening Reception. Guests are welcome to enter after this time, we just ask consideration for those speaking and listening.
