In 2024-25 Jonathan completed his 98-foot mural on the exterior wall of our Original Clearwell building (which is next up for Renovation) - a project funded by a grant from Republic Services Foundation’s “Neighborhood Promises” grant program and administered by Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte. Grauel was inspired by many local landmarks and community members as he explored the area. He populated the mural with several of them, and continues the theme of communities cultivating concord, in this solo exhibition of paintings and 3-D works.

August 2 – Sept. 27, 2025: “Color Riot: Where Color Speaks Loudest"
Curated by Concord-based artist and computer-systems engineer, Dimeji Onafuwa, this Group Exhibition of professional African and African-American artists presents a visual identity characterized by bold, saturated colors inspired by West African fabrics, pop art, and Afrofuturism; Dynamic brushstroke motifs and graphic overlays; and use of grainy textures and handwritten script fonts. Don’t miss these bold and unique artworks! The Opening Reception on Saturday, August 2 will feature presentations by several of the participating artists, with additional events offered over the 2-month Exhibition Period.
Opening Night: Saturday, August 2, 2025, 6–9pm saw a great crowd! Five of the 7 participating artists were here and gave Artist Talks about their work to an interested & engaged audience which had many questions. Stop in and see these amazing works before they’re gone!

We are thrilled to have talented local artist, Dimeji Onafuwa @artbydimeji bringing this exciting show to the Main Gallery at ClearWater Arts! Onafuwa has gathered 6 other exceptional artists to join him in gracing our walls with a riot of color, texture and dynamic compositions. Dr. Dimeji Onafuwa (Dimeji) is a Nigerian-born artist, design and research leader. Tilling passion from his African heart with American soil, he cultivates evocative and emotional scenes of assimilation. His paintings will be joined by those of six other artists hailing from the African and African-American diaspora, each with a unique artistic technique, and approach to materials and style. Dimeji has called Concord home for several years and most of the artists in this show reside in the greater Charlotte area. *La Ruchala Murphy currently serves as the Director of Development at the SC Humanities Council. An experienced nonprofit professional with proven skills in grants management, organizational leadership, relationship-building, program development, and data management for over 20 years, La Ruchala serves others in communication, education, development, and program implementation and administration. When La Ruchala is not serving as an Arts and Nonprofit Administrator or serving on nonprofit boards, she is creating her own multi-media art; from collages, to painting, to clothing and jewelry from recyclables personally and through AmyrrhDesigns.
The Women’s Caucus for Art Carolinas is a regional chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art. The mission of the WCA is to create community through art, education, and social activism. A fabulous afternoon was had by our attendees, taking in all the art created by our local artists. Entries were from Members and non-Members from Cabarrus and surrounding counties. We asked local artists, friends and neighbors to join us in celebrating art and sharing their work. Please see the ribbon-winning entries below, showcasing different styles and art types.
We are privileged to continue to award First, Second, Third and (2) Honorable Mention awards in two categories, 2D and 3D. A grant from the Grassroots Art Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency, and the Cabarrus Arts Council partially supports these awards.

This Spring we are so excited for ClearWater Arts Center & Studios to be a participant; ClearWater will be open with tenant artists in their studios to show off their work and engage with visitors; and featuring the newly-installed Exhibition of Student Artworks from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, "Impulse" in the Main Gallery! City Transit will provide a shuttle between the Downtown Artwalk and the ClearWater location less than a mile away at the Shuttle Stop on Spring St SW, near the parking lot for Memorial Gardens.
Art Walk is an all-day arts festival for artists and makers to sell their handmade artwork. Art Walk will feature live music, food trucks, local brews and wines, and participation from the boutiques, shops, and restaurants throughout Downtown Concord.

BLACK HISTORY AND WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH EXHIBITS IN 2024
ClearWater Arts Center & Studios is excited to announce a Call for Artists and a new collaboration with local arts consultancy, St Lawrence-Martin . Jemma L. St. Lawrence-Martin will serve as Guest Curator for production of the 2024 Black History Month and Women’s History Month exhibits under the theme, ‘Let’s Celebrate!’.
Both exhibits will be featured from February 1st through March 18, 2024, in the ClearWater Arts Main Gallery, at 223 Crowell Drive NW in Concord, NC.
Black and Afro-Latino artists, and Women artists living in North Carolina and regionally are called & are invited to submit artworks for consideration; Submission instructions and Criteria are spelled out within the Call for Submissions, found at the St Lawrence-Martin website. PRATIBIMB (means Reflection) : A Reflection of Indian Folk Art
Local artist and teacher, Gayathiri Selva is our GUEST CURATOR for this Exhibition of 6 forms of Traditional Folk Art from India, crafted by local artists!
She is bringing together a team of nine (9) local Artists who have studied these traditional methods, to showcase their work in Folk Art forms:

In addition to providing the Gallery space (and, soon, the Banquet/ Multipurpose Room downstairs) for event Rentals, ClearWater Artist Studios also produces a growing variety of events. The 2nd Saturday Open Studios day, an open-house allowing access to artists working in their studios and anything else programmed that day, occurs monthly.
